IMPORTANT: Effective beginning on January 1, 2011, over-the-counter medicines or drugs (e.g. Advil, Ibuprofen, cough syrup) are not eligible for reimbursement under an FSA, without a doctor’s prescription. Insulin is the only medicine that doesn’t require a prescription. Also supplies that you need for medical care (e.g. contact lens solutions, bandages for wounds, thermometers) will continue to be eligible for reimbursement.
As such, upcoming enrollment in your employer’s flexible spending account should take into consideration as of 1/1/2011, over the counter items will no longer be reimbursable under the health FSA.


Important Things to Know for 2010-2011

  1. Lake Worth ISD Cafeteria plan year runs from September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.


  2. MGM Administrators is the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the Flex spending accounts in Lake Worth ISD for the plan year September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.


  3. The Debit Card is being discontinued effective September 1, 2010. Anyone participating in the Medical Reimbursement account for the coming year will need to submit paper claim forms for reimbursement of funds. Direct Deposit is available.


  4. Direct deposit is available for the Child Care Reimbursement account. Claim forms are available under the Forms link.


  5. The District continues to provide $50,000 of Term Life and AD&D insurance to all eligible employees.


  6. Unum Disability insurance is offered again with slightly different plan benefits but the cost remains the same, Guarantee issue amounts are subject to pre-existing condition limitations. No Evidence of Insurability is required. See the Plan summary for specific information. Click on Benefit & Forms / Disability.


  7. Fort Dearborn continues as the Group Term Life carrier for the coming year and the premiums remain the same. New hire guarantee issue is up to 7 times salary or $200,000; $50,000 for spouse and $10,000 for children.


  8. An Identity Theft plan with ID Watchdog is being offered again this year. The plan provides monitoring for all medical, criminal and financial records and resolution of any theft is provided. Individual or Family coverage is available.


  9. Plan offerings to Lake Worth ISD employees also include Hospital Indemnity, Dental, Vision, Heart/Stroke and Cancer insurance.
